Systolic time intervals in atrial fibrillation and mitral stenosis.

چکیده

The duration of left ventricular ejection was related to the preceding RR interval in 15 patients with varying duration of diastole, and hence ventricularfilling time, from atrialfibrillation. Eleven had varying degrees of mitral stenosis. Left ventricular ejection time lengthened in relation to increasing RR intervals, but reached a duration beyond which no further significant increase in ejection time occurred despite a further increase in the RR interval. The RR interval needed to achieve maximum left ventricular ejection and the slope of the curve at short cycle lengths could be related to the presence and severity ofmitral stenosis as measured by echocardiography. The pre-ejection period decreased with increasing RR interval in 9 patients in whom it was measured. The ratio of pre-ejection to left ventricular ejection period decreased rapidly with increasing RR interval to reach a minimum value beyond whichfurther increase in RR intervalproduced no significant change.

MITRAL STENOSIS COMPLICATED BY RENAL ARTERY EMBOLISM

Six patients with mitral stenosis complicated by renal artery embolism studied prospectively are presented. In five patients there was unilateral and in one patient bilateral renal artery involvement. The diagnosis was confirmed by intravenous pyelography, retrograde pyelography, renal angiography, renal scan or a combination of these. All had atrial fibrillation, proteinuria and elevated ...

بررسی بالینی و اکوکاردیوگرافیک تنگی دریچه میترال در بیماران مراجعه کننده به بیمارستان های امام خمینی و امیراعلم1

Rheumatic heart disease is a serious health problem in developing countries. The present study was conducted to evaluate clinical and echocardiographic findings of Mitral stenosis and their relationship with patients functional classes. We studied records of 400 patients with symptomatic mitral stenosis (71% female, mostly in 20s or 30s and 54% function class II) treated in two hospitals in Teh...

Impact of preprocedural atrial fibrillation on immediate and long-term outcomes after successful percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty of significant mitral stenosis

Optimal time to perform percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty (PMV) for patients with significant mitral stenosis (MS) and atrial fibrillation (AF) remains controversial. We sought to identify prognostic factors and evaluate long-term clinical outcomes after PMV of 77 consecutive patients with MS with a mitral valve area (MVA) <1.5 cm2. According to baseline heart rhythm, these patients were divide...

بررسی عوامل موثر بر لخته داخل دهلیز چپ در بیمارانی که تحت عمل جراحی دریچه میترال قرار گرفته اند

Background and Aim: Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is a serious health problem in developing countries. Mitral stenosis is one of the most prevalent forms of RHD and one of the causes of systemic thromboembolism in Iran. The present study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between left atrial clot and mitral valve disease. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was done on all p...
